Cloud 9 is an ideal retreat for those looking to unwind in a beautiful location undisturbed by the outside world. The elegant and contemporary interior creates a feeling of sophisticated simplicity and spacious luxury. An open plan kitchen, living and dining area opens onto a large deck complete with infinity lap pool, sunloungers, table and chairs and barbecue. The emphasis on light and space makes the most of the unobstructed panoramic views across the Pacific Ocean and down to Long Beach. On the lower floor the spacious master bedroom has its own balcony, super king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom. There is also king-sized studio with its own lounge and en-suite, a double room and a twin room which share a bathroom. The layout is perfect for a group of friends or family.

The designer kitchen contains everything you need and breakfast supplies for the first morning along with a fruit bowl await your arrival. If you decide not to self-cater or want to eat out one evening there are an excellent selection of restaurants in Russell just a short drive away. Alternatively, a private chef can be arranged for you at Cloud 9 to cook you a five course dinner or a gourmet barbecue on the deck. Watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean as you dine in complete privacy and enjoy your luxury New Zealand holiday.

From the retreat you can explore the peaceful waterfront village of Russell. This historic township was the first colonial capital of New Zealand and is a lovely place to spend an afternoon exploring. It can be approached by a five-minute car ferry from Opua or the passenger ferry from Paihia. For those wanting to catch a glimpse of some of New Zealand’s spectacular wildlife visit The Bay of Islands. With 114 islands and many secluded bays it is one of the country’s finest maritime parks. There is an abundance of marine life including whales, penguins, dolphins, gannets and the famous blue and black marlin. If you’re feeling adventurous the Bay also offers many activities to choose from such as sailing, diving, hiking, sky diving, jet boating and golf. Alternatively, relax on one of the Bay’s beaches and sample the fine local food and wine.

The Waitangi Treaty Grounds are also well worth a visit. As the ‘Birthplace off the Nation’, the grounds are New Zealand’s most historic site, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed between Maori Chiefs and the British Crown in 1840. Spend an afternoon exploring the historic Treaty House or admiring one of the world’s largest ceremonial waka (canoe). Illuminated at night, the beautiful Haruru falls are accessible by both road or via the pleasant walkway through the Waitangi national reserve.
